5-Card Draw Poker
In this popular card game, five cards are dealt to each player and he can replace 3 of his cards with 3 other cards. After the cards are replaced, another betting round is taken place and then the "showdown" takes place and the strongest hand wins the game.
Draw poker is quite an easy game to learn, and many poker players like it because it is very easy and convenient.
There are quite a few different variations of five card draw poker, here are some of the most popular ones:
Spit in the ocean
In this game each player gets 4 cards and one card is put in the middle of the table. Once that one of the players shouts "spit", the dealer must throw the card that he deals onto the middle of the table and then those cards are considered as the community cards.
Jackpots
In this game, also called Jacks-or-Better, the first betting round starts only if one of the players has a pair of Jacks or better. If no one has a pair of Jacks, another round starts, but this time with Queens instead of Jacks, if no one has Queens, another one with Kings is opened, and if again, there is no opener, Aces will be needed for the next round to be opened.
Jack or Back
If any of the players can open Jacks, it is similar to Jackpots, but in case that there is no opener, the hand is played low and each one of the poker players can open. If still no one can open, the round ends and a new round starts with the opening Jacks.
Kings and Low-Men
In this variation, the Kings and the lowest cards in the hand that each player gets are considered as wildcards.
No Vaseline
This variation is very similar to Kings and Low-Men, but with a difference. On this variation the opener must win the round. If the opener is not the winner, he must pay the poker pot's worth to the winner of the round.
5-Draw Low-Ball
The game is just like any other form of poker besides that fact that in here, the lowest hand is the one that wins the poker pot.
5-Draw High-Low
In this variation the players declare if they play high or low just before the last betting round. After the showdown, the pot is split between the highest hand and the lowest hand.
