Guide to UK Card Rooms

If you want to play poker or other card games in the UK, here you can find a guide to UK card rooms. Usually, UK card rooms can be found inside casinos. Most of the UK card rooms host Texas Holdem and Omaha poker games and tournaments in addition to other card games such as Kalooki and Mah Jong, for example.

The UK casinos are private members clubs. It means that if you want to play in a UK card room, you would be required to register as a club member. The membership requirement is a result of the British gambling law. It will take at list 24 hours between the time you register until you would be allowed to participate in a poker game. After you have registered, in order to participate in a card game at a UK card room you would be charged a table fee for each hour of playing.

The most common poker games in UK card rooms are pot limit games, while some of the private games play half pot limit. The pot limit poker games are different from the limit poker games usually offered in American casinos card rooms.

UK card rooms offer two basic types of poker games, organized poker, or private poker. In organized poker games, the casino provides a dealer and a manager who is responsible of organizing the card room activity. Organized poker games are usually Texas Holdem games or seven card stud and Omaha games.

Private poker games can be usually found in small town UK card rooms. Those poker games are usually organized by experienced poker players who teach poker playing groups or schools. The private poker games are usually played for free, but the casinos usually charge a deposit payment for renting the poker equipment.
